8/12/2023 0 Comments Green bay packers standings![]() ![]() If someone of the physical prowess of Gary tore his ACL in Week 9 last season, he should be back in time for Week 1, and certainly to be included on the initial 53 instead of being placed on the PUP list to start the season. If the season opener hadn’t been on the same Minnesota turf he suffered the injury on, he might’ve played Week 1. Elgton Jenkins tore his ACL in Week 11 of the 2021 season and played in Week 2 of the 2022 season. I’ve changed my mind, hence why I’m putting him on the initial 53. I said on our latest episode of Head of the Pack that, if I had to guess, Gary won’t be ready come Week 1. ![]() Add in Wooden and Brooks, the two rookie draft picks, and suddenly there’s youth and reason for optimism on a unit that has yearned for veteran production in recent years.Įdge (5): Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Justin Hollins, Kingsley Enagbare, Lukas Van Ness This year’s supporting cast for Clark, namely Wyatt and Slaton, has the chance to be the strongest the Pro Bowl nose tackle has had in some time. Interior defensive line (5): Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, T.J. ![]() Continuity up front will be key for Love in his first year starting under center. All 10 of these guys were on the active roster last season. Before they both tore ACLs, they were the starting left tackle and left guard on the 2020 NFC Pro Bowl team. They’d certainly have the best left side of an offensive line if Bakhtiari and Jenkins stay on the field. If the Packers’ top five stays healthy, they could have the best offensive line in football. Offensive line (10): David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, Jon Runyan Jr., Zach Tom, Yosh Nijman, Royce Newman, Caleb Jones, Luke Tenuta, Rasheed Walkerįind the nearest wooden table and knock on it. But it looks as if the Packers are rolling with who they have, which means one of Musgrave (rookie second-rounder) or Kraft (rookie third-rounder) - the former is more likely - has to become a reliable target in the passing game right away. You could argue very few teams have a guy who can do what he can in that regard. I still think the Packers should sign Marcedes Lewis since they don’t have anyone among their tight ends who can block like he can. Tight end (4): Luke Musgrave, Josiah Deguara, Tucker Kraft, Tyler Davis The sixth spot is a crapshoot, but Heath, the undrafted rookie from Ole Miss, might be at the top of a clustered bunch looking to claim the final roster spot. Reed, the rookie second-round pick, has the tools to be an immediate contributor. 1 and 2, but the spots after them seem up for grabs. If anything, watching Green Bay’s receivers this season should be different and intriguing, whether they’re any good or not. Three second-year players and three rookies make up this group. Wide receiver (6): Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Samori Toure, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath
